Addison Crisis and Hypo

Postby tisjill » Mon Apr 21, 2008 8:35 am

I am wondering if a person with Addisons has a car accident and goes into an Addisons Crisis will their blood sugar drop sharply too.
My daughter was in an accident not too long ago (she did not have Addisons at that time) the paramedics too her blood sugar reading which was normal , but had it been low then it is possible that this fact could have been used as a factor in the cause of the accident.
So back to my question. Is it possible to have a normal blood sugar then a drastic drop in time of stress .
thank you for any help with this.

Yes it does happen, well it did to me anyway. Some prat drove straight into the back of me and within minutes my blood sugar and dropped down low and I had started to shake and shiver as an addison's crisis began. I was fine before this. I had just done an emergencey stop due to another driver pulling out in front of me. I was just waiting form him to finish his manuaver in front of me when this other driver slammed straight into me 8O (He was talking on his mobile/cell phone).
Remedy was some HC very quickly.
