Generic fludrocortisone weaker than Florinef?

Postby Poly » Fri Mar 09, 2012 12:55 pm

I am wondering if anyone else with Addison's disease has had to increase their fludrocortisone dose now that Florinef is no longer available? A year ago I was hospitalized for severe low sodium. Long story made short, I now have to take two tablets each day to maintain a correct sodium level, which would have been way too much when I was taking brand Florinef.

Thanks!

I do not like the white fludrocortisone available here in the US. I do find the yellow oval one is very good. Some have told me it is like the old pink florinef, which has not been available for years here in the USA.

Are you here in the US or do you take the UK produced fludrocortisone? I know it was reformulated and required refridgeration. Florinef hasn't been available here in the US for a few years...
